KONDAI KADALAI (CHICKPEAS) BIRYANI
INGREDIENTS:
Raw Rice – 250 gms, soaked in water for a few minutes
Onion – 1, finely chopped
Green Chillies – 3
Kondai Kadalai (Chickpeas / Kabuli Channa) – 1/2 cup, soaked
Bay Leaf – 1
Oil – 3 tsp
Ghee – 2 tsp
Salt as per taste
GRIND TOGETHER:
Ginger – a small piece
Garlic – 3 to 4 cloves
Cinnamon – 1
Cloves – 1 to 2
Cardamoms – 1 to 2
METHOD:
1. Heat ghee and oil in a pan over medium flame.
2. Add bay leaf, onions, green chillies and stir-fry for a
minute.
3. Add the 1 tsp of the ground paste, tomatoes and salt.
4. Stir to mix well.
5. Add the kondai kadalai and 2 cups of water.
6. Bring to a boil and add the rice.
7. Cover with a lid and cook till rice is done.
8. Remove and serve hot.
